Rocky Mountain Funnel Cakes is located on Greene Street’s ‘Golden Block’ just a few doors up from the Grand Imperial Hotel.
They specialize in creating amazingly decadent funnel cakes with all the best toppings you could ever imagine. Some of my personal favorites are the strawberry cheesecake, the chocolate fudge turtle, and the pineapple upside down cakes. Starting around $5 you can treat yourself to a deep fried funnel cake topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Once you have a try you’ll understand why they have 5/5 star ratings on Yelp, Tripadvisor, Yahoo AND Facebook.
And, if you’re looking for an affordable lunch option the Funnel Cake Shop has got you covered. Ranging in price between $5 and $9 they offer tacos (2 for $5.50), burritos, hot dogs, and ice cream. All prepared right in front of you with fresh ingredients. Their friendly staff even engages you to make sure you get exactly what you want right down to the smallest detail. If you want to ‘go big’ they make you a Mexican Funnel Cake. It starts with their regular funnel cake and then adds beef, beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa sour cream, and more. It took me a while to build up the courage to order one of these but that was a mistake. This is definitely one of their very best menu items and it’s HUGE.
If all that isn’t enough, they have about a dozen flavors of ice cream and can whip up anything from a simple cone, to a sundae, or root beer float. The real daredevils will get a loaded funnel cake topped with a scoop or two of ice cream and some hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, cherries, and…. you get the idea. Whatever your imagination can dream up the Rocky Mountain Funnel Cake Shop can deliver.
One of the best traditions of the Funnel Cake Shop is to pin your home town on their giant maps. Right across from the counter they put up a huge 5 foot wide map of America and another one of the whole world. All visitors to Silverton are encouraged to stop by to place a safety pin over their home town. Every year they start over with fresh maps and by the time August rolls around you can really start to appreciate how many people travel from all over the world just to get a funnel cake. Well, maybe they ALL didn’t set out to Silverton JUST to get a funnel cake but it’s sure to be one of their best memories.
If you’ve got a craving for something sweet then the Rocky Mountain Funnel Cake Shop in Silverton should absolutely be your very next stop. Leave a message in the comments below if you agree.
